The following information is from a recent Forester's Report on this property:
This is a 20 acre parcel.
National Forest abuts the southern side with the remaining sides surrounded by private land.
Elevation ranges from 1150-1300 feet and aspect is mostly southwest.
Slopes vary between 10 and 30 percent on a mid to lower slope with a small bench in the center of the stand.
The site is moderately moist and warm and appears to be very well drained.
Site index for Douglas fir on this site is approximately 140.
Stand was harvested approximately 25 years ago where almost all of the merchantable conifer overstory was removed and red alder subsequently seeded in prolifically.
Presently found are young red alder (3-8"dia, 30-40' tall); black cottonwood and big leaf maple (6-18"dia); scattering of older Douglas fir, western hemlock, red alder, and western red cedar (8-16"dia); and a few old growth Douglas fir (over 40"dia).
No serious insect or tree disease problems appear to be present.
